Evelyn Laye smiles as she holds a flimsy white nightie decorated with pale pink rosebuds and long pink ribbons. The nightie was a 60th birthday gift from Albert Whelan 85 year old star of the old music hall. Miss Laye known as Boo to her friends showed it to some of them including ex Gaiety girl Ruby Miller and Elizabeth Allan said husband Frank Lawton standing beside her. .
